Lake Valley Navajo School develops its Navajo students into Mighty Lakers. Starting with the building blocks of education and community, students continue through a holistic learning environment with unique life experiences, dual-language literacy, comprehensive technology, and a culture of lifelong learning.

Our Philosophy

Lake Valley Navajo School’s Mighty Lakers are introduced to a wide range of academic, creative, professional, and cultural settings. Our school’s philosophy is focused on giving students access to every opportunity to grow into the future leaders and critical thinkers of our Navajo community. Students are taking an educational journey with their eyes on advancing to higher learning, as well as developing the life skills and talents they need to enter the job market. Students will venture to the front of the classroom and to a variety of off-campus sites to learn all of the valuable, necessary skills available to them.

Comprehensive Technology

From Kindergarten to 8th Grade, Mighty Lakers are being prepared for high tech careers. Our specialized STEM program teaches every student on every grade level. Students are introduced to the age appropriate concepts of STEM, including basic coding, electronics, robotics, and much more. The STEM program has been engineered to gradually add complexity each year.

Holistic Learning

Our Mighty Lakers are being educated with a holistic approach to their growth and development. We focus on the individual student’s entire health and wellness, and consider their emotional, social, and cultural well being at all times. Students have many opportunities to engage with their community to enhance identity and culture.

Dual-Language Literacy

Learning two or more languages is one of the most important, beneficial and impressive skill sets that a student can obtain. While gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for one’s own culture, our dual language-speaking students are apt to enjoy learning about new languages and cultures.
